There is a decrease in the cleaning performance of the vacuum cleaner with FilterBag.
The airways are blocked.
Something bulky has been vacuumed up (e.g., large leaves from house plants) and is blocking the airways. The casing gets hot, as air is unable to escape as required.
Disassemble the floorhead, hose, handle, and telescopic wand.
You can carefully push coarse particles which are jammed in the hose or in the telescopic wand toward the floorhead using a long object (e.g., a broom handle).
Items causing a blockage are usually easy to shake out of the handle.
The FilterBag is full and/or the filters are clogged.
The suction power is reduced if the FilterBag is full or if the exhaust filter and/or motor protection filter are clogged.
Switch the vacuum cleaner off using the On/Off footswitch.
Remove the electrical plug from the socket.
Blocked pores reduce the suction power of the vacuum cleaner.
Dispose of FilterBags when they are full. Do not attempt to re-use FilterBags.
Replace the FilterBag, the exhaust filter, or the motor protection filter as required.
Change the FilterBag when the color marker in the FilterBag change indicator turns red.
Replace the motor protection filter whenever you start a new packet of FilterBags. Every packet of original Miele FilterBags contains 1 motor protection filter. Multipacks contain 4 motor protection filters.
Depending on the model, your vacuum cleaner will be equipped as standard with one of the following exhaust filters:
a AirClean: Replace this exhaust filter every time you start a new packet of Miele FilterBags. Every packet of original Miele FilterBags contains 1 AirClean exhaust filter. Multipacks contain 4 AirClean exhaust filters.
b AirClean Plus filter 50 (light blue): Replace this exhaust filter after approx. 1 year. Make a note of the date on the exhaust filter.
c Silence AirClean 50 (gray), d Active AirClean 50 (black)*, e HEPA AirClean 50 (white)*: Replace these exhaust filters when the timestrip® filter change indicator is completely red. The indicator lights up after approximately 50 hours of operation, which is equivalent to about 1 year of average use. You can continue vacuuming in this case. However, the suction power will be reduced, as will the effectiveness of the filter if it is not replaced in good time.
*For models C1, S 2xxx, S 3xx, S 4xx, S 5xx, S 6xx, S 7xx, S 8xx : Active AirClean 30 (black), HEPA AirClean 30 (white).
Press the release buttons at the side of the hose connector and pull the hose connector out of the suction opening.
Lift the release button for the dust compartment lid and raise the lid as far as it will go.
The FilterBag has a flap which closes automatically when the dust compartment lid is raised to prevent any dust escaping.
Pull the FilterBag out by the grip on the holder.
Replace the motor protection filter if necessary:
Lift up the filter frame until it clicks and remove the old motor protection filter. Hold by the clean, unsoiled section to remove it.
Replace with a new motor protection filter.
Close the filter frame.
Insert the new FilterBag into the holder until it clearly clicks into position. Leave the FilterBag folded up after taking it out of the packet and clicking it into position.
Replace the exhaust filter if necessary. Do not use more than one exhaust filter at a time.
AirClean exhaust filter:
Press the release catch on the filter grille and open the grille until it clicks.
Grasp the used AirClean exhaust filter by one of the clean, unsoiled sections and take it out.
Replace it with a new AirClean exhaust filter.
Close the filter grille.
AirClean Plus 50, Silence AirClean 50, Active AirClean 50*, and HEPA AirClean 50* exhaust filters:
*For models C1, S 2xxx, S 3xx, S 4xx, S 5xx, S 6xx, S 7xx, S 8xx : Active AirClean 30 (black), HEPA AirClean 30 (white).
Lift the exhaust filter and remove it.
Insert a new exhaust filter, making sure it goes in properly, then press it down into position.
When using the c Silence AirClean 50 (gray), d Active AirClean 50 (black)*, e HEPA AirClean 50 (white)* exhaust filter, press the timestrip® filter change indicator.
*For models C1, S 2xxx, S 3xx, S 4xx, S 5xx, S 6xx, S 7xx, S 8xx : Active AirClean 30 (black), HEPA AirClean 30 (white).
Damage due to contamination in the dust compartment.
Large quantities of dust may get into the dust compartment and damage components if the FilterBag has not clicked into position.
Before closing the dust compartment lid, always make sure that the FilterBag has been inserted far enough and has clearly clicked into position.
An empty operation lock prevents the dust compartment lid from closing without a FilterBag in place.
Do not force it.
Close the dust compartment lid securely, making sure it clicks into position. Take care not to trap the FilterBag when doing so.
Insert the hose connector into the suction opening on the vacuum cleaner until it clicks into position. Depending on the model, line up the guides on the two pieces.
Original Miele accessories are available from the Miele online store, Miele Service, and your Miele dealer.
When using the turbobrush: The turbobrush is blocked.
Switch the vacuum cleaner off using the On/Off footswitch.
Remove the electrical plug from the socket.
To remove threads and hairs, place the electrobrush upside down on a level, clean surface.
To guide the scissors, move along the guide track on the roller brush.
Use a pair of scissors to cut any threads or hairs that have wound themselves around the roller brush.
Then run the vacuum cleaner to vacuum up the cut threads and hairs.
When using the turbobrush: The turbobrush speed drops.
The turbobrush is driven by the suction flow of the vacuum cleaner. With tightly woven carpets, the speed of the turbobrush can drop because the suction inlet is so tightly enclosed by the carpet pile that the air flow does not circulate. The brushing effect may then not be satisfactory.
STB 305 TurboTeQ:
In this case, open the air inlet valve by turning the large brush symbol to the circle marking (upper section of figure).
In all other cases, the air inlet valve must be closed so that the full suction power of the vacuum cleaner can act on the floor.
Close the air inlet valve by turning the small brush symbol to the circle marking (bottom section of figure).
STB 201, STB 205:
In this case, open the air inlet valve by moving the line marking on the slider to the large brush symbol (left section of figure).
In all other cases, the air inlet valve must be closed so that the full suction power of the vacuum cleaner can act on the floor.
Close the air inlet valve by moving the line marking on the slider to the small brush symbol (right section of figure).
