There was laundry inside the drum when the washing machine was switched off. This shifted the zero point of the sensor.

How to avoid resetting the zero point in future:
Switch on the washing machine before filling the drum.
Switch on the washing machine before emptying the drum.
Completely empty the drum at the end of the program.
Do not pour water into the detergent drawer.
