Fault code 3.3.20/Search failed

The Miele appliance could not be found in your Wi-Fi using the WPS connection method. The Miele app displays the message Search failed and the fault code 3.3.20. For Apple devices with iOS 14, an additional message is displayed: Please check that “local network” app permission has been granted in your smartphone settings.

The WPS function on your Miele domestic appliance or router is not activated.

Make sure that you have activated the WPS function on your Miele domestic appliance and on the router. It is automatically closed on the router after a short time.

Select the Try again button in the Miele app.

You are using a Miele Professional machine.

Select the Is your appliance Professional? button.

The WPS search fails.

Alternatively, connect your Miele domestic appliance via the IP address.

  • Open the user interface of your router.

  • Find the IP address of the Miele domestic appliance in the list of recognized network devices.

  • Select the IP button at the top right of the Miele app to start the IP search.

  • Enter the IP address of your Miele domestic appliance.

  • Select the Find via IP address button.

  • If the search fails, the following message is displayed: We were unable to assign the IP address to a Miele appliance. Please check your entry and try again.

The router settings are preventing the connection.

Check the settings for your router: The devices in the network must be allowed to communicate with each other. Some routers offer special settings for this, which must be activated or deactivated depending on the manufacturer.

  • Examples:

    • “Wi-Fi devices may communicate with each other” option must be activated.

    • “AP isolation” or “Client isolation” must be deactivated.

  • With some router models, it may be useful to disable the 5 GHz Wi-Fi when connecting the Miele domestic appliance.

The Miele domestic appliance and your mobile device are not connected to the same Wi-Fi.

Connect the Miele domestic appliance and your mobile device to the same Wi-Fi.

No “local network” app permission on an Apple device with iOS 14.

Activate the “local network” app permission in the settings of your Apple mobile device.

Your router does not support the WPS function.

Register the Miele domestic appliance via app. The Miele app guides you through all the necessary steps.
