Miele Introduces Guard, its Most Advanced Canister Vacuum Series to Date, to North American Market
The first canister vacuum with Wi-Fi connectivity, this high-tech, sleek design with premium performance is the largest evolution in Miele’s canister vacuum history
Miele, the world’s largest manufacturer of premium domestic appliances, today announces the North American debut of its Guard Canister Vacuum Series. Now available at retailers nationwide, the Guard M1 and L1 vacuum lines combine powerful, reliable cleaning with smart features, elevated design and long-lasting performance. Nearly 100 years after Miele’s first canister vacuum came to market, the Guard is a testament to the brand’s continued commitment to innovation and a growing opportunity within the canister vacuum market in North America.
“As a global leader in the canister vacuum market, the Guard series represents the most significant innovation in Miele’s century-old history,” said Søren Rye, President and CEO of Miele USA and Mexico. “In addition to offering superior performance and a new premium design, we’ve created the first Wi-Fi-connected canister vacuum, presenting an exciting opportunity to capture the North American market.”
Guard is the first canister vacuum on the market to offer Wi-Fi connectivity, connecting to the Miele@home app where users can view all of their Miele appliances in one interface, access important model information, order replacement dust bags, filters and accessories, and reach customer service. The L1 Electro model features an additional advanced status indicator, providing real-time filter and bag-fill status via the Miele@Home mobile app and the digital touch screen interface on the canister.
The Guard series takes inspiration from current interior design trends, featuring luxurious highlights and textural variations that meet consumers' unique tastes. Available in mono-colored neutrals and bold colors, with matte and structured surfaces, premium fabric covers, and metallic accents, the Guard is designed to be a vacuum on display.
“We often hear customers share stories of their multi-generation Miele vacuum that still exceeds expectations for quality and longevity,” said Ina Mundy, Director of Category Management, Small Domestic Appliances for Miele North America. “This latest line remains true to the Miele brand promise, while introducing innovations designed for the modern household. Guard integrates top-of-the-line power and filtration with high-tech adaptations, all in a canister that is beautifully designed and tested to last for a 20-year service life.”
To ensure the best clean, Miele has introduced new HyClean Air Dustbags with ComfortFit technology. Made from 80% recycled material and filtering more than 99.99% of particles, the dust bags audibly snap into place to automatically self-seal, offering customers peace of mind in choosing the most hygienic and sustainable product. The new AllFloor floorhead is lightweight, easy to handle and designed to vacuum both carpet and hard floors without having to switch floorheads. Miele has also introduced a new 2-in-1 upholstery and crevice nozzle as well as a new comfort handle with an integrated dusting brush, offering all of the best tools in sleek, built-in configurations, available on the L1 line. All of these elements lend themselves to the Guard name – protecting the floor surface and the appliance itself against dust and small particles while delivering maximum performance.
The Miele Guard M1 line starts at $499 and comes in three models (M1, M1 Parquet XL and M1 Cat & Dog) and is created for customers who seek power, performance, convenience and hygiene. Key features of this line include:
- Timeless Design: Available in three colors with a diamond structure vent grille, this vacuum meets all design preferences.
- Suction Power & Hygiene: Four main suction power settings for various surfaces including curtains, upholstery, carpet and hard floors. Paired with the ComfortFit HyClean Air dustbag for efficient cleaning and superior filtration.
- Convenience: A user-friendly LED backlit interface makes it easy to toggle between suction settings for an optimized clean. M1 also features automatic cable rewind and a built-in accessory compartment. Conveniently register via the Miele@home app to reorder vacuum bags and filters, access manuals, view other Miele appliances in the home, and contact customer service.
In addition to the above, the Guard L1 line starts at $849 and offers superior performance in a cutting-edge design. Available in four models (one standard and one WiFi-enabled L1 Electro model, the L1 Cat & Dog and the L1 All Floor), this vacuum is designed to exceed vacuum expectations, featuring:
- Cutting Edge Design: Three luxurious colors, featuring copper and rose gold accents, fabric detail and diamond structured design.
- Ultimate Clean: In addition to the four main suction levels, the L1 Electro features a smart “automatic mode” that will automatically adjust to the detected floor surface. All models utilize Miele’s ComfortFit dustbags with HyClean Air technology, while the L1 Electro offers the assurance of a HEPA AirClean filter, reliably retaining 99.999% of dust, allergens and fine particles.
- High-Tech Integration: All L1 models offer Miele app compatibility for accessory ordering and user manual access. Additionally, the L1 Electro features advanced connectivity with a live status indicator for bags, filters and blockages, viewable from the canister’s full-color digital LCD screen* and via the Miele@home App.
