Miele Introduces Dual-Zone Built-Under Refrigerator Drawers for Flexible Kitchen Storage

New refrigeration solution maximizes freshness, convenience, and seamless kitchen design integration

Miele, the world’s largest manufacturer of premium domestic appliances, has introduced Built-Under Refrigerator Drawers, expanding the brand’s refrigerator portfolio with a flexible cooling solution designed for today’s kitchens. The system offers two undercounter drawers with independent temperature zones within standardized niche dimensions, providing homeowners with greater control over food and beverage storage while maintaining optimal freshness.

The importance of kitchen islands and multifunctional spaces has fueled demand for undercounter appliances, including dedicated cooling in preparation and entertaining areas, allowing frequently used ingredients and beverages to remain easily accessible without relying solely on the main refrigerator. At the same time, more people are cooking, entertaining, and experimenting with new recipes at home, increasing the need for flexible storage that makes better use of available kitchen space. The Miele Built-Under Refrigerator Drawers address this shift by bringing precise, adaptable cooling directly into these high-use areas of the kitchen.

“Today’s kitchens are designed to be highly functional, central gathering spaces within the home,” said Søren Rye, President and CEO of Miele USA and Mexico. “As part of our ongoing investment in the premium cooling category, our new Built-Under Refrigerator Drawers expand our panel-ready, undercounter refrigeration lineup to meet the evolving needs of homeowners. This innovation delivers advanced functionality and precision cooling while reflecting the quality, performance, and design our customers expect from the Miele brand.”

Flexible, Dual-Zone Cooling

The Built-Under Refrigerator Drawers feature two independently controlled temperature zones ranging from 32–57°F, offering greater flexibility than traditional single-zone undercounter units. This dual-zone capability allows homeowners to store beverages, fresh ingredients, and specialty foods at their ideal temperatures while maintaining uniform cooling throughout each compartment.

The drawers utilize the brand’s proprietary DynaCool technology, which circulates air evenly for consistent temperatures, helping support ingredient quality over time and ensuring foods remain at their ideal storage conditions. The appliance can also be networked with the Miele@home app, allowing users to monitor and adjust settings remotely through the brand’s connected home platform.

Versatile Storage for Every Kitchen Need

Designed to accommodate a variety of household needs, the Built-Under Refrigerator Drawers support a wide range of everyday storage applications—from an easy-to-reach snack drawer for kids to precise temperature-controlled ingredient storage for home chefs. The system’s flexible temperature settings and Wi-Fi capability make it simple to adjust each drawer depending on what the household needs most at any given moment. Example storage applications include:

  • Beverage Drawer: Keeps drinks chilled and organized for easy access, making entertaining and everyday refreshment effortless.
  • Soft-Cooling Drawer: Maintains cellar-like temperatures up to 57°F for ingredients such as citrus, fruits, potatoes, and onions.
  • Essentials Drawer: Stores small or frequently used items like condiments, sauces, herbs, butter, and cheeses.

“Consumers are looking for refrigeration solutions that adapt to the way they cook and live,” said Dirk Sappok, Director of Category Management, Kitchen Appliances, Miele North American Region. “By offering two independently controlled temperature zones in a compact, undercounter format, these refrigerator drawers provide a practical, versatile space for storing beverages, everyday ingredients, and specialty foods with precision and convenience.”

Seamless Design and Integration

The Built-Under Refrigerator Drawers’ panel-ready design fits flush with surrounding cabinetry, maintaining a cohesive kitchen aesthetic. Designed for standard undercounter niche dimensions, the unit can be installed in kitchen islands or alongside other built-in appliances, allowing it to integrate naturally into a wide range of kitchen layouts.

The Built-Under Refrigerator Drawers are available in a panel-ready configuration and retail for $3,999. The unit is now available through Miele dealers nationwide. For more information on Miele’s undercounter refrigeration portfolio, please visit MieleUSA.com.
